Calistoga Cool Wine Tour
After booking - what to expect
We'll work with you to determine an arrival time between 10:30 and 3:00. You can let us know which wineries you are keyed in on, or leave it to us to select spots that appeal to your voiced preferences. You can plan on between 25 and 45 for most tastings. We'll get your lunch preference so we can build in to your itinerary the correct location and time for you to enjoy your lunch (some choose a picnic at one of the wineries, but there are a couple yummy restaurants along the way as well - see below for more info). Plan on about 2.5 hours for a 1 tastings tour, 4-5 for a 2 tasting, and 6-7 for a 3 tasting tour.
Upon check-in on the day of your adventure, we will spend ample time setting you up on bikes and we will cover a detailed map with your party.
A wristband will alert the host wineries that you're coming from the Calistoga Bikeshop and are on the Cool Wine Tour, and they will hold any purchases you make and we will have them back at the shop by 5pm.
Each group we cater to has particular requests and questions - please give us a call to help you set up a unique adventure, whether for a corporate outing or a small group. You can plan on a half day adventure if you choose two tastings, or more of a full day with three.
As for lunch, we recommend a picnic in order to enjoy the flexibility that offers in terms of time, as well as the beauty of sitting at a winery for your meal. Calmart, Bella Bakery, and Palisades Eatery are all nearby and have great picnic options. However, if you'd rather have a sit-down meal, there are also a few restaurants along the route to enjoy a bite, and we allot more time in your schedule for a sit down meal.
Pricing: only $84.99 + tax including bike/helmet/full itinerary planning/booked tasting reservations/wine pick up of your purchases. (upgrade to the most popular electric assist bike option for just $50 add'l pp - you're sure to come back with a smile on your face with them).
Please note that wineries typically charge more for groups larger than 6 (plan on about 50pp per winery).
- The bikes that are including with the Cool Wine Tour Package are comfort bikes that are pictured below. They all come with insulated rear rack bags that will hold your personal gear and food, and easy to operate internal gear systems that makes operation as simple as can be. Many riders opt for Electric-Assist bikes - these can be upgraded to for just 50 dollars per tour - just make a note in your reservation, or mention this desire when you call.
- The distance for this tour can be customized as much as desired. It can be as little as 5 miles, and we also have customers that ride 30 or more - the average mileage is around 10-12 miles. The roads are mostly on flat quiet roads, and most people spend 4 to 5 hours on this tour for two tastings, and 6 to 7 hours with 3 tastings.
- Tasters participating must be at least 21 (folks under 21 can still join - they would just be charged for a bike rental and won't have a wrist band for tastings).
- Advance reservations highly recommended.
Here are some of the local wineries that we work with - all good Napa Valley wine, each unique in their approach and presentation.
